The Allen-Oliver Store (shown) was built in 1864 by William Bird. It was operated by Spotswood Bird, then Roland Allen. Claiborne Oliver ran it until 1980. The Bird-Oliver House was built about 1900 by Spotswood Bird. These buildings are gone; demolished to make room for the new courthouse.
